The Arab Film Festival is proud to host the World Premiere of We Never Left by Loulwa Khoury. Watch it in person in San Francisco on October 27th, or online as part of our virtual festival.
Saying goodbye to loved ones at the Beirut airport has become an unfortunate tradition in Lebanon, even a curse. Lebanese emigrants, driven abroad by decades of turmoil, are more than double those still left in their homeland. After civil protests erupt in Lebanon on October 17th 2019, WE NEVER LEFT follows three young Lebanese expats as they wage the Lebanese revolution from New York and fight for a better country. As they go through their collective journey, they each individually confront their relationship with their homeland and their own complicated identities. This is the story of political and personal revolutions a world away from home.
Another film from Lebanon that we are screening at the festival is Arzé by Mira Shaib. You can read more about it here.
