At the Arab Film and Media Institute (AFMI) we seek to continually change the narrative, share our stories, and foster understanding of our common humanity through art and storytelling. In this dire time, we want to share art that showcases the history, culture and people of Palestine through our ongoing program Palestinian Voices.

Each stand-alone event or multi-day program provides a look into the history of Palestine, the struggles of life under occupation, and all the things that we hold dear: the love within families, the creativity of art, the beauty of the land, and the warmth of the Palestinian people.

The stories of atrocities and suffering coming from Palestine are unbearable, and the narrative in mainstream Western media is often racist and dehumanizing. Palestinian artists have a long history of using their agency – often overcoming incredible odds – to make their films and art, and to share their culture.
