Celebrating the Life of Dr. Jack Shaheen

The Arab Film and Media Institute joins MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau and other community organizations on August 23 in Los Angeles in honoring the groundbreaking work and lifelong commitment of Dr. Jack Shaheen, an academic and media critic who deconstructed simplistic stereotypes about Arabs and Muslims in film, TV and news media.  Shaheen died July 10th at age 81, and had been a special advisor for the Arab Film Festival.

Celebrating the Life of Dr. Jack Shaheen takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 6:30 pm at the Islamic Center of Southern California, 434 S. Vermont Ave. LA 90005 (just north of Wilshire Blvd.).  Street and some free lot parking is available.  Seating is limited and reservations are strongly advised.  RSVP to events@arabfilm.us
